    Default Pictorial: Stealing a tenth

There aren't many areas of life where a tenth of a second matters as much as when you're racing. We pick the best images of the MotoGP riders at Catalunya, as they do everything they can to try and steal an elusive tenth of a second

Anchors out. Dovizioso swings his leg back to try and keep the rear wheel on the deck so he can apply maximum braking force on his Yamaha YZR-M1

Fat is fast. Casey Stoner muscles his Honda while spinning up the rear wheel, laying a dark line as he tries to get it upright and onto the fat part of the tyre to enable maximum grip and drive

Data crunching. Valentino Rossi pores over the data recorded by his Ducati Desmosedici during first Free Practice to see where he can steal some speed. Data analysis has become an increasingly important weapon in a fast rider's arsenal

Early riser. Ben Spies gets his Yamaha YZR-M1 upright and on the gas well before the corner has ended, balancing a sliding rear wheel with hard acceleration as he drives out onto the straight

Counter weight. Dani Pedrosa is tiny which helps with acceleration but he has to use everything he has to ensure he doesn't lose out on the brakes

Maximum attack. Valentino Rossi's Ducati Desmosedici gets air as he wrestles it to stay on line while simultaneously opening the throttle wide to unleash the full 260bhp through the rear wheel.

Magnets on. Casey Stoner, focused on rival Andrea Dovizioso, gets hard on the throttle of his Honda, laying a huge black line with the rear tyre as he tries to reel in a few inches on the Yamaha ahead

In his first season in MotoGP, Stefan Bradl has carried over the huge angles of lean he's used to in Moto2. Here he's almost got his shoulder on the ground as he looks for every last drop of corner speed

That last pic is insane for sure. I'd almost swear he was laying it down in the next frames. Crazy lean angle.
