Does any member have a cruiser with D&D Fatcat exhaust on there? Most people go Vance & Hines (HD owners anyhow) and I really would like the Fatcats....but....I haven't had the chance to hear them.
Let me know.... |

You got the Lowrider right?
Why do you want D&D Fatcats? Sound? Performance? You like the 2 into 1 versus dual exhaust sound/look? I'm not a big fan of D&D. Their quality has always been sup par, in my opinion, be it sportbikes or cruisers. There's a lot people that like them, and you may have already done your homework and know this is what you want. I'm not trying to knock them if your a fan, but there's options out there. On a side note: If you're not already aware of it, hdforums.com is a big message board for Harley's. A wealth of information there.

I had never been a fan of 2-1 systems, rather of long non-staggered exhaust similar to (a little longer would be nice)....Something like these Cobra Speedster Longs maybe ![]() However, there isn't as much available for Dynas as their is softails in this style...only remember finding the bubs above and Cobras. I have not heard good things about those two. For some reason, probably the long even look, the Fatcat started growing on me look-wise. Performance is really not a big issue for me either. I'm just looking for something that sits right to my eyes and ears. Quote:

As far as quality, maybe I'm really leaning on my sportbike days cause their canisters sucked. And to be fair, every company has somebody that had a defect like chrome blueing or flaking.
And there are people out there that really love the Fatcat because supposedly you get a lot of power from them. That's why I asked. If you're soley looking for power, than they might be what you're looking for. I personally, I don't like the sound or the look: ![]() I like staggered for looks and sound. I like the long tubes too. That youtube video is on a dyna, so if you haven't heard em, it'll give you an idea. I guess I really hate the Fatcats cause so many people were putting them on baggers and it just didn't look or sound right IMO. Made me prejudice, lol. Different strokes for different folks. I'd offer to put em on for ya, but my bike lift is currently occupied....forever, it would appear.

I agree, I think Fatcats (or any other one only pipe configuration) is not for baggers.
I like the way Fatcats sound on most vids I've seen, trouble is....they are just that, videos. I would regret buying something without hearing it first, and then disliking the actual sound in person. Regretfully for me though, I mostly see either V&H who offers nice looks (but not what I'm looking for) or thunderheaders, of which I dislike the look altogether. So I guess it will be a while before a purchase is made, until I can hear options live. FG, since you bring up the installation topic (and considering I'm not the most mechanically experienced)....how hard is an exhaust swap on HD's? I would also be exchanging air intake and either re-mapping or adding a fuel management to remap(?). Thanks guys, and do let me know if you think of someone with a Fatcat or some other shotgun styled pipes that look/sound nice. |

As far as the Fatcats go, scour the classifieds at HDforums. You might can find one that you won't lose your shirt on if you don't like and decide to resale it.
As far as the install goes, recognise that your asking the resident procrastinator. I could do it on a Wednesday.....which Wednesday of which month of which year, I couldn't tell you that. Now that my jokes out of the way, If you got tools, you can do it. Invest in a shop manual for your bike, first off. Exhaust, intake and Power Commander (or what ever you use) is pretty easy. There'll be some cussing (apply beer to ease the pain). Rewarding part is you did it yourself yada yada...plus you don't pay Harley 80 bucks an hour to do it for you.

But, their cruiser models aren't as bad, I just don't care for the sound of a 2 into 1 on a Harley. It's a subtle difference, just not my preference, the style either for that matter.
